Abington became a
town in 1712 from part of Bridgewater. Presently, the towns of
Brockton, Avon, Holbrook, Weymouth, Rockland, and Whitman
surround Abington. This record collection includes 21 volumes.
Of the earliest town records, two of the books deal exclusively
with town meetings while the other books fit births, deaths,
marriages, and intentions in with the town records. Index books
exist for the six vital record books after 1850. Enjoy the
actual drawings of the earmarks that appear in some records.
Abington Town Records 1712-1761.
A highlight of this volume is the illustrated
earmarks. Most pages have two numbers; the smaller numbers are
referenced below. On fiche #5, the upside-down pages (241-242)
are shown right-side-up (as pages 23-24) at the end of the
fiche.
