Incorporated in 1778, the town was known as Ward until 1837. It was formed from parts of Worcester, Sutton, Oxford and Leicester--which remain as its present-day neighbors, along with Millbury. The Auburn vital records comprise 13 volumes of records and indexes.

Look for marriages before 1779 referenced with births and deaths; e.g. Hezekiah Merriam about 1725, page 34. Also, note few, if any, marriages 1782-1784. The tight binding of this book, unfortunately, swallows some dates.
