Now surrounded by the Berkshire towns of Adams, Savoy, Windsor, Dalton, Lanesborough and New Ashford, Cheshire was incorporated in 1793. Settlement, however, began as early as 1767. Many of the first settlers came from Rhode Island and Connecticut, and an early ministers came from Nova Scotia.

This collection of vital records includes six volumes of data, covering the years 1793-1892. Fire destroyed a register listing the births and deaths of about 1844-1857.
