This collection of Dighton, Massachusetts, vital records includes four volumes of data and two volumes of indexes, plus indexes prepared by Louis H. Carr. The town was established in 1712 from part of Taunton.
 

Dighton Births, Marriages and Deaths 1695-1790. Book 1.

Whereabouts of the original record transcribed here are not known. The earliest date, 1679 (page 29), notes the Boston arrival of Samuel Waldron from Coventry, England. The earliest marriage is that of Jared Talbut & Rebekah Hathway in 1687 (page 20). The few deaths in this book usually relate to family births. Some marriages, also, are found with the birth records, but most marriages and intentions are listed separately--though often interspersed among the family records. Dighton Births, Marriages and Deaths 1754-1853. Vol 2. 459 pages.

Earliest dates link marriages and births of the Gooding family from 1685-1773 (page 203). Most births and deaths, however, occur between 1750 and 1844--and most marriages take place between 1782 and 1844. Marriage intentions extend from about 1787 to 1859.
