Fall River was
incorporated in 1803 from part of Freetown. The name of
the town changed to Troy in 1804, but reverted back to
Fall River in 1834. From 1803-1889, the vital records
include 42 data volumes and 30 index volumes.

Water stains abound in
this old book--and some ink is washed completely away.
Most births and deaths are arranged by family, with
dates as early as 1724 and as late as 1856. Marriage
and/or intentions dates range from about 1788 to 1831.
Earlier marriages are implied from the birth dates of
children in family listings. On occasion, records of
animals and fences are interspersed with vital records;
e.g., pages 73, 100-102, 105, 110. Note the name change
from Troy back to Fall River in village records of about
1833 (fiche #5).
