Florida, Massachusetts, is quite a different place from the land of swaying palms and sandy beaches. It is a scenic, Berkshire Mountain town, beautiful in summer with tumbling streams and green meadows and beautiful in winter with frozen waterfalls glistening from rocky ledges. Located along the Mohawk Trail, the area is a favorite of tourists during the fall foliage season. Surrounding Massachusetts communities include Monroe, Rowe, Charlemont, Savoy, Adams, North Adams and Clarksburg, as well as Readsboro, Vermont.

Florida Register of Births, Marriages, Deaths 1843-1860.

It appears that this Register was begun in 1846 with three births in 1845 and three in 1846. By 1851, births that occurred 20-30 years previously were being recorded. This practice continued, with a surge of activity in 1859 that included births as early as 1781 and marriages as early as 1810. Deaths beginning 1806 are also included in this Register.
