Though settled much
earlier, Foxborough incorporated 10 June 1778 from parts
of Stoughton, Stoughtonham (now Sharon), Walpole, and
Wrentham. Neighbors today include the Norfolk County
towns of Plainville, Wrentham, Norfolk, Walpole, and
Sharon; and the Plymouth County towns of Mansfield,
North Attleborough, and Easton.

Events before Foxborough
incorporated in 1778 are copied, likely, from another
volume--perhaps a volume that still exists in Stoughton,
Walpole, or Wrentham. In fact, it may be that most of
the family names through page 105 came from that same
original record--with events beginning 10 June 1778
entered as original records. Note that the family
records through page 105 consist mostly of births--with
some associated marriages and deaths. Beginning with
page 116, however, the character of the record changes
somewhat to include more marriages. It is not readily
apparent why only some names between pages 4 and 176 are
included in the "promiscuous" index. Note that
pages 107-108 are missing.
