Though established as a town in
1763, minutes of parish meetings as early as 1745, then known
as the North Parish of Sheffield, still exist in Great
Barrington. The town's earliest vital records, however, have
not survived as well. But a transcript recently uncovered at
the Massachusetts State Archives, and filmed to supplement
this fiche collection (fiches 1T-3T), may provide some
additional births of 1741-1813 and marriages or intentions of
1761-1844.
