Hanson, Plymouth County, was incorporated in 1820
from part of Pembroke. Surrounding towns presently include Hanover,
Pembroke, Halifax, East Bridgewater, Whitman and Rockland. The
earliest book of vital records, from about 1820-1851, is lost. Known
as Book 1, it was indexed before its disappearance. Besides Book 1,
other volumes included in the index are Book 2: Marriages, Births
and Deaths 1852-1891; Book 3, in three separate volumes from 1892
(births to 1951, marriages to 1963 and deaths to 1941); and Book 4
for vital records to about 1970. |
