Known as New Framingham because it
was settled about 1741 by former residents of Framingham MA,
Lanesborough was established in 1765 as a town in Berkshire
County. It is bounded on the north by New Ashford, on the east by
Cheshire and Dalton, on the south by Pittsfield, and on the west
by Hancock. The vital records in this collection comprise five
volumes, with dates before 1765 and after 1897.

Unfortunately, the index to births and deaths only references
pages through 23. Significance of upside-down numbers at the
bottom of many pages, shown in parenthesis here, is not known.
