Previously named Nashoba, Littleton became a town in 1715. Present neighbors include the Worcester County town of Harvard, and the Middlesex County towns of Ayer, Groton, Westford, Acton, and Boxborough. This collection contains seventeen volumes of vital and town records.

Of special interest are 1766 references to "our french family" and "our french people" (pp 109 & 112), religious discord in 1780 (p 307), and payments to those who provided blankets for Continental soldiers (p 297). Personal property mortgage deeds identify grantor and grantee, specify their "bargains," describe the sales "goods and chattels," and include related mortgage discharges, attachments, and foreclosures.
