Established in 4 July
1771 as the town of Partridgefield, the name was changed
in 1806 to Peru. Located in Berkshire County, Peru is
bounded on the east by the Hampshire County towns of
Cummington, Worthington and Middlefield. Neighboring
Berkshire County towns are Windsor, Hinsdale and
Washington.

Vital records include births of about 1742-1823, and
marriages and marriage intentions of about 1774-1818.
Watch for occasional marriages and deaths among the
birth records. Miscellaneous town records of about
1797-1833 include road surveys, perambulations, ear
marks, reports of stray animals, and pew deeds. Note
that page numbering begins anew for minutes of town
meetings 1771-1819. Throughout the book, ink varies
from very bright to very light. |
