Taken from parts of Athol
and Templeton when incorporated in 1786 as the town of
Gerry, the name became Phillipston in 1814. Neighboring
towns in Worcester County are Royalston, Templeton,
Hubbardston, Barre, Petersham and Athol.

of the town changed in the midst of the record book,
events before 1814 refer to Gerry and later ones refer
to Phillipston. Births generally are listed by family
and include a few incidental deaths. Among the many
blank or non-existent pages are 16, 144-199, 257,
290-299, 349, 351-399, 401-402, and 405-479. Two
different pages are numbered as 24, and pages 13-18 are
bound in mixed order.
