The Plainfield vital
records comprise four index books and four volumes that
include the years 1785-1863. The vital records for the
early years are found in the back of Book 1 and 2 of the
town records. Some of this early information is recorded
by family, but marriages and marriage intentions are
listed chronologically. Marriage intentions in Book 3
and births, marriages, and deaths in Book 4 are all
listed by the year of event.
