Located in Bristol County, Raynham
was incorporated in 1731. It is bordered on the west and south by
Taunton, the town from which it was created. Easton shares
Raynham's slight northern boundary. Neighboring towns to the east
are in Plymouth County and include Bridgewater and Middleborough.
Eleven volumes were filmed for this collection of 50 microfiches.

This appears to be an index to the
next three volumes. If so, the dates indexed are 1699-1900.
However, there are some discrepancies and/or inconsistencies
between the index and the volumes supposedly being indexed,
especially in regard to Volume 2. It makes one wonder if some
records from about 1807 to 1840 are missing. Incidentally, the
initials "B", "M", "D" and
"I" before entries indicate whether the record is a
birth, marriage, death or intention.
