Stoughton, first a part
of Dorchester, became a town in 1726. Today it is
surrounded by Canton on the north, Randolph and Avon on
the east, Easton and Brockton on the south and Sharon on
the west. Of these surrounding towns, three were
originally part of Stoughton: Canton, Avon and Sharon.

volumes in this microfiche collection. The earliest were
recorded when the town was still the south precinct of
Dorchester and contain data as early as 1709.
Alphabetical arrangements or indexes are available for
births, deaths and marriages from 1727-1892. Because of
the many boundary divisions involving Stoughton,
research should also include the vital records of other
towns; e.g., Dorchester, Sharon, Avon, Canton and
Plymouth.
