Sturbridge was known as New Medfield until established as a town in 1738. This collection of vital records includes two volumes of data for the years 1723-1891 and three indexes for the records of 1860-1891.

Sturbridge Births, Marriages, Deaths 1723-1860.

In 1797, someone, probably the Town Clerk, transcribed births and deaths of 1723-1796 (pages 1-64) from pages 1-176 of an earlier record. At the same time, it appears he transcribed marriages of 1736-1797 (page 1-33) from another record. Most ink is legible.
