Tolland, Massachusetts, formerly a
part of Granville, became a town on 14 June 1810. On the south,
the town borders Colebrook, Connecticut, where many Tolland
residents traveled to take their marriage vows. Sandisfield is to
the east. Blandford and Otis, on the north, complete the list of
neighboring towns.

The book of records from 1810 to
1843 is missing. Perhaps it was overlooked or misplaced when the
volumes were transferred from one town clerk to the next. The
records from 1843 to 1987 are contained in four volumes. They are
kept in a safe at the old Tolland school house. Indexes through
1982 are available on file cards.
