This book consists mostly of vital records and town meeting minutes. Besides indexes, the vital records include births, marriages and deaths--sometimes interspersed with ear marks. Though much of this writing is illegible, much can be deciphered.

Despite old-style writing, faded (sometimes completely) and blurred ink, inconsistent page numbering, and the custom of writing half the book upside-down; it is possible to decipher much of the data in this old book. Perhaps the pages are a mix of original and copied records. Such is the claim written on page 114 of fiche 9. If true, the indexes may refer only to the copies. Pages 8-9 or 10-11 may be missing from fiche 8, and 73-74 from fiche 9.
